"Dan Gilbertson, Certified Financial Planner and Vice President at Summit Wealth Group is the host of today's mini episode."

Dan

"So how can I find purpose in my retirement? Well, first of all, when you're building up your retirement, saving for retirement and planning for retirement. That's a long journey, but I would encourage you to start thinking about before retirement, what are you going to do in retirement?

How can you give back? I'm very passionate about doing that, and uh, my thought is I encourage clients when they get into retirement, think about what you want to do. Think about how you can volunteer, give back, use your strengths, your passions, and really truly give back to individuals or the community.

Another thought is, is thinking about your kids and grandkids. Maybe there's, there's um, you've lost some time over the years and you want to reconnect with them. Maybe you travel back there and, and uh, and help the kids out. Participate in the grandkids activities. I mean that's a very fulfilling, uh, part of your life.

One area of purpose that I think about is, is a client we, a couple of clients we work with. They've saved up all these years and they put themselves in a great position to retire. But now they're in retirement. They're volunteering for a non profit organization in the Denver area. And, uh, and the purpose behind this is to really give back to the less fortunate.

In all these years, we have our strengths and what we're really good at. What are you gifted at? You know, if you can find what you're passionate about, what you enjoy doing, what you're gifted at, and ultimately, if you can find a need that's out there. You will find your purpose. The benefit of finding your purpose is not only are you giving back to them and you're helping them, but, uh, you're getting a lot out of it too."
